FUR - We Know Drama

A parody of TNT's logo and slogan modified slightly for the furry community. Obviously the concept is from Ted Turners TNT network, but this version and the models / textures used to create it are 100% mine.

Martian Landscape

A generic view of a Martian landscape. I know... its not all that Wow, but it is the first thing I've ever rendered in Blender complete with simple textures and the world setting turned on so that the render includes simple atmosphere effects... saved mostly for posterity and so I can laugh at myself in a couple of months.

Created and rendered entirely in Blender. Gimp for the logo.

Well, this is my attempt at a 'tribal' type image of a very cool dragon. This dragon is looking on proudly with his sunglasses on. He was scribbeled on the back of a insurance bill along with a ton of notes of who I had to call. The image had to be scanned, and cleaned majorly with the gimp. Then 'inked' with tone prossing and finialy 'moused' up in the gimp.

Eee gads. This picture started out as a pastel on a poster board size
piece of cheap foam board from office max. It took eight scans, hours
of toying with just to get the blasted thing into the computer.

Tonight I totally cleaned up the image, created a better background and
added my logo tacking on another eight hours to the sixty or so I've
already got into it.

digitally created/altered in Gimp.

Demetrious Wolfbane or Dem for short. };8> He's a generally laid back kinda wolf. Course he happens to be a werewolf and constantly horny but that would be Dem.

Dem's philosophy of making love is rather simple. If it moves make love to it. If it doesn't move make love to it until it does, then make love to it again. One could only wonder why his nickname is Slut Puppy. *LOL*

Dem is pictured here showing off his.. er.. goods.. in his trade mark ripped up jeans and 80's style hair.

In furry terms he's of a race called Draconian. He is draconian in many ways too... Rude, brash and in your face style. He can also be kind and very gental as he's pictured here.

This is what I call an Air that I did almost ten years ago. Yep a real life air brush painting.. The only digital work I did was croping the image.

He turned out to be a really kewl guy with a great personality and to top it all off he helped me with my scribbling skills. I drew him this as a thanks for his honest opinion of my works.

Humm, what can I say.. This one started as a kinda jest on a my usual on-line character Falcor showing a little of his attitude. Granted it's not that great but I wanted to play around with perspective again. Specifically I wanted to play around with pointing a weapon at the viewer.

Now as finished as I am going to go with it, I looked at it for a while trying to think up a good name for the picture. Devious little me with some help from my room mate chose to convolute the name of a old porno movie for the title. I'll let you figure out which one, and thank my room mate for the inspiration for the name.

Welp, I just started drawing a young Falcor and I was hit by the fact that what I was drawing looked a lot like Brookyn from the TV series Gargoyles. (Gods he's hot =) Anywho so I ran with the idea and this is the drawing that came out.

Being an artist for me is kinda weird. Some times you start out with a really nifty idea and then something else just sort of shows up. This is one of thoughts kinda pictures for me. I won't tell ya all what I was intending, cause I have hopes that some day I'll do that picture as well, but this became Falc as Brook, one of my favorite cartoon characters of all times.

Scribbled on a piece of cheap arse black construction paper (The kind you buy kids only cheaper) with only four pastel pencils/sticks and about 45 minutes. (Fast for this dwaggie!)

This is a friend of mine, drawn back in 2K (2-2-2k in fact) He was a friend of mine and I decided to draw him all buff looking and stuff. Sadly he and I parted on bad terms mostly due to claw in mouth syndrome on my part, but in my heart he still remains my friend.

The title of the picture, the paintbrush, is kind of a running gag about his char pictured here. You see when he would blush he would cover his face with his tail tuft, and I always called it his paintbrush cause like you can see in the picture, their is no way it's going to hide it. }:8>

"On the forum I use my muse's image, and that would be Valankar. The big V is rather rude and obnoxious but he's a nice guy once you get to know him. (Trust me he really is an angel in disguise.)"

"Anyway this is how I see my self when I'm furry if you will. I'm a little tall (It's the neck) at about 8.5 feet, have long silver white hair and I'm as blue as the pacific is deep. My eyes are same color as my scales and thou a rather weird diamond shape I'm still a friendly furson. That thing on my face is a tattoo, It's a stylized dragon and if you look real hard you can see it take up it's wings and fly. The tattoo is crimson red and it signifies my clan, my beliefs and every thing in my soul. I suppose one could call it a trademark or something like that. I've never understood human terms very well."

"I don't have any wings but you can bet your bottom I can fly. And I mean fly anything! I even landed that blasted washing machine. Don't laugh, I'm not kidding, and have the video tape to prove it."

"Currently I'm on assignment out in deep space, looking for of all things a lost freighter. (OK so my job isn't all that exciting.) I hope to be back soon.I miss my lion."

flight.jpg
Image: flight.jpg   877x638 101989 bytes 2002.01.26

Yep it's another air.

This is flight, a nondescript red dragon in 'flight' It's an interesting piece as I've gotten a strange response from it. This was the first hunk of art anyone ever offered me money for, and peoples reaction to the painting is rather interesting to say the least. Some folks look at it an give me the "yaaa" weak response and move on. Others stand transfixed in front of the painting drooling. One person to have the later response was my first boss when I moved to Denver.

I brought the painting in to hang in the shipping and receiving room where I worked. (The place was dark, drab, and rather creepy) I noted over time that he would stop and just look at the piece. One day he offered me two hundred dollars for it right their on the spot.

I had never even thought about selling my paintings, I did them like I do all my work, cause I like looking at it. I told him thus and being reluctant to give up my original offered to copy it, in air for the same amount. He declined, he wanted the one and only original even though I know I could have done better on the second.

Flight was a study in perspective. Although you can't see it in the pic, theirs a river under him that completes the color scheme. Everything is almost perfectly centered, a layout that usually doesn't work well but with flight it just does.

Flight was painted with my first airbrush, a Pashe single action air brush. (Read a 39.95 dollar hunk of junk.) If any of you just want to try out an air brush the Pashe is a good starter, but if you want to take it with any kind of seriousness get an iwata, the best brushes in the world.

My iwata was a gift I gave myself from my first tax returns in Denver.. $300 bucks. Back then that was a LOT of money for me to spend on something frivolous. My rent, which was always behind, was $280. I have never regretted the decision for even one second.

The iwata (and no it's not capitalized) is finicky, clogs often, fragile and can be very frustrating to work with. It's also hands down the most accurate air brush on the planet. And no I don't work for them. When you figure out how to make it work the darn thing sings melodious rhythms of breathtakingly smooth color and texture.

Anyway I was, when I painted flight quite poor, (read minimum wage going to college full time working full time) so all I could afford was fabric paint which is about the same quality of the cheep crap they used to give us in school to finger paint with that smelled oddly like dirt. (In air brush paint terms - it's craft paint.) That's part of the reason why the picture looks 'grainy'

Over all I'm happy thou with the picture. It always surprises me when people fall in love with it knowing I have probably less then $10.00 in materials and a little piece of my heart.

pendwagon.jpg
Image: pendwagon.jpg   636x800 82975 bytes 2002.01.18

Well is it a sketch or isn't it? I've been debating that half the night because it both is and isn't.

What pendwagon here is more or less is an idea for a design for a pendant, to be hung on a chain around ones neck. He looks kinda kewl in the picture but in pendant version he wouldn't be all that 3-D. The round thing over his noggin is where you would place the chain.

From an engineering standpoint he should work well as a pendent. Physically he probably wouldn't because he would be rather heavy and have a tendency to get caught/stuck in sweaters, jacket zippers, etc and would end up behind one if you fell asleep wearing him. I ware a piece I designed and had made by a jeweler about eight years ago. It isn't as heavy as pen here would, and I'm always waking up with it behind me. (I never take it off.)

This was based on Sar's description of a pendent that he used to have. I added a few twists however.. If you look at pen's legs and your keyboard you might (with a little imagination) notice and ampersand (&) Theirs a few other subliminal hints but I'll let you look for and find them. *wink*

Well, this one I need to explain. No it takes too long to explain, I'll sum up. };8> Anyway Sar came up to my place again this week with a new picture he made of a friend of his, Lucian. All he had was a copy of the electronic file on disk and he wanted to digitaly finish the picture but he uses Photoshop. (Where as I use the gimp) My last remaining windows machine couldn't run Photoshop even If I had forked out the cash for it and the only image program I have on the old dozer is M$ Image Disposer. (Probably the worst image editing program in history.)

Anywho I was going to load up the file on my linux laptop and do some editing in the gimp for him but for some reason everything I did made the image, well blury. (We have very different ways of working with our images.)

So with all that said I loaded up the blurry image and well, copyed it. Then I kinda went nuts with the shading hopeing I could show him a couple of quick tips. What evolved is this picture.

I actualy had the fortune to briefly meet Lucian's player at AC last year. Unfortunitly I was in the process of getting our room and several other things at the time so I might have come off rather badly. (Their were problems with paying for the room.) He sure seemed like a nice guy at the time thou }:8>

Awww, isn't he kewt? This is Jem a drawing that is little more than an inch tall total. I doddled him on a scap of paper one night while trying to stay awake. He was a cute little idea that eventualy became a kewl familiar.

Jem is pictured here poised on a mens ring. (Yep he's not much larger than a dragon fly.) He's a lot of fun to play with. Although he dosent look like it on first glance he's actually mechanical. (Note the herrying bone on his chest.)

Although he was origionaly given as a traveling compainion for a ranger, he quickly became that players most valuable possestion and best friend.

Wow.. is it another Air? Oh yea...

Buhahahaha.. it's not human riding the king of the unicorns }:8> It's a Valkrie.. another of my custom races....

The equine pictured here is the king of the unicorns and rather ticked off that he had been seduced by his rider but at the same time rather helpless to change it... he took the plunge and fell in love with her. Alley (his rider) is both a b*tch and a d*ck tease, but she also loves him. I think he regrets taking that bit willfully.

This is another of my air brushes and features the king and quean of the unicorns. (I'll bet you can figure out which is which.. *chuckle*)

Created on cold press board and about eight hours of _brushing_ I fell a wee bit short, so I grabed a regular brush and finished the hair on the quean and the king.

Enjoy...

Ah this one. It took me a whole half hour to sketch this from start to finish. The fist step was a quick odd S that I extended and it became the shape of our subjects here body. A touch here and touch there and poof the first and only Chinese style dragon I've ever done was born.

In the drawing I didn't spend much time and that's probably why it looks as clean as it does. He's another of my 1/4 typeing sheat projects and too my surprise is also a tattoo on several people who I've met over the years. *shrug*

Gads. This thing has taken forever to get looking correct, and this time it's not the scanner's fault either. It's mine!

This is buff Falcor, who began his life more or less as a gag request of my char. I did two stupid things this time and used a regular chunk of typing paper again and I did another one of my imfamious 1/4 sheat drawings then to make maters worse I used a cheap pencil.

The resulting drawing is almost _so_ baddly smudged I didn't even want to show the picture. When I scanned him in I spent nearly an hour just trying to cut out the smudges. I ended up resorting to the old block select tool and flood fill for the big chunks, and _many_ hours with the air brush tool in the Gimp to clean him up.

I have to admit, it turned out a lot better than I thought it would but wow what a lot of work. Lesson learned - Use good art supplies and stop drawing thoes 1/4 sheat pic's.

Anywho, you didn't see any naughty parts, really you didn't *wink* (He is after all showing off.};8>

Hey!0_o He's nekkid! *chuckles* OK, OK so I hid all the truely naughty parts. This is really just a sketch I did on a chunk of typing paper. The scan turned out all wonky but I thought I would use it to practice getting my levels correct in the Gimp.

Note to self and others when using Gimp - select all white area's with magic selection tool, flood fill with #ffffff, use air brush to clean up edges. Re magic select white areas, invert selection and tweak levels on layer. Do not auto Normalize - your backgrounds will not be pure white.

This little guy began as a prototype for my character Falcor but I messed up some parts of him and decided I would just let him live his life as a nondescript little dracine. He's kinda koot isn't he? I've always imagined he's hiding some kind of surprise behind his back, that's why he's smiling.I'll leave it to your imagination as to what that _surprise_ might be.
