400x313 61150 bytes 2006.11.02
This is a stamp design I was commissioned to do for the fantastic "Wish you were here" 2007 calendar - http://www.coyote-tangent.com/wywh/
I also had the main image (minus text and background) professionally printed up on t-shirts. Take a look! http://www.foxloft.com/Store/Shirts/glyphshirts/
This design was inspired by the pacific northwest coast style, I wanted to depict a wolf/dog guardian spirit. So malamute or wolf, or both - take your pick.

These were a custom pendant commission of a chakat - a sort of feline centaur creature. The design was really fun to do!

400x341 46703 bytes 2006.11.02
This is a t-shirt design I did for a fantastic rainbow boa breeder based out of Texas. There will be text inside the design and I may eventually turn it into a painting. :)

400x377 34760 bytes 2006.11.02
Tattoo design commission for Ravynwolf of her character, "Dragon in the Mist".
This image was made specifically for her, so please do not ask me if you can use it - it is not to be reproduced.

An aye-aye for my best friend, Kyoht, cause she loves them. :)

I really wanted to make a play on the standard Jack card, and decided to integrate african symbolism into the more 'traditional' jack-royalty attire. I had a lot of fun with this design!

733x600 86293 bytes 2005.05.06
Can you see into the future that has past and laugh at the mistakes you are about to make?
Acrylic, watercolor and india ink on watercolor paper. 5x8".
A rather rare piece of truly personal art. The cheshire cat is a powerful symbol for me and has very recently come crashing into my life full force. I won't elaborate on that, but this is an image that got stuck in my head and wouldn't leave me alone. I'd like to do some painting practice with this image, try it in a bunch of different colors.

223x300 24912 bytes 2005.05.06
This was a commission piece for a detailed flamingo on a tagua nut. It will be drilled and strung as a pendant to wear.
Pyrography and acrylic on tagua, actual size 1 1/4" x 2"

| Image: direwolfpendweb.jpg
254x300 28350 bytes 2005.05.01
Pyrography and acrylic on tagua, pictured larger than actual size.
A gift for Ravynwolf, who is a really cool chica :)

| Image: majweb.jpg
652x800 68930 bytes 2005.04.17
Gift for a friend, who has a black jaguar for an avatar. He's an amazing bass player, so I took a few small liberties with the design
Sumi and india ink on watercolor paper. 9x12"
It's not reddish in the original, and the white isn't so glaring.
|
| Image: heronshieldweb.jpg
487x500 60972 bytes 2005.04.15
A commission for my "Heron Dance" Image on a custom shield. I made the shield myself, it's on the high end of sizes I can make right now, at 18" in diameter.
These shields have a surprisingly good tone to them, which I found out by accident, and actually would work well as flat hand-drums. They aren't very loud, but are very deep and rythmic. Good for traveling, too, because they are so flat!
Custom work a specialty! www.foxloft.com

512x600 49839 bytes 2005.03.27
Plugging away at commission work!
This is a dragon shield that I made and painted. Sorry about the photo glare, my camera is on its last legs.
The feathers are amazon parrot feathers, the shield and leather are deer rawhide.

| Image: hornedowlweb.jpg
193x250 17469 bytes 2005.03.06
Pryrography and acrylic on tagua, actual size 1 1/2" x 2"
Owls, especially great horned owls, are really special to me. Something pushed me to get this done, and so I did.

| Image: blueponydrumweb.jpg
603x600 63515 bytes 2005.03.04
This painting is on a 12" diameter drum, deer hide over a pine frame.
I was playing around with the horse silhoutte that I made for the 'Aquarelle' series that I did, and I decided to use it to make a few 'painted ponies' on drums.
This drum is for sale, and will be up soon on my online store.
I do custom drum work and have more drums up on my site: http://www.foxloft.com/store/drums

| Image: coyotetaguaweb.jpg
300x410 35174 bytes 2005.02.25
Pyrography and acrylic on tagua.
Original is 1 1/2"x2", less than half the size of the image on the screen. It's much more detailed in person, it's very hard to get a good capture of these.
This was a commission piece for the winner of my custom pendant auction on Furbid. I do offer custom tagua pendants for sale, email me if you are interested!

| Image: giraffependweb.jpg
228x325 16331 bytes 2005.02.25
Pyrography on tagua, shown roughly twice actual size.
This was a custom glyph of a giraffe, burned onto a tagua pendant. I have added seven brand new glyphs to my glyph page, go take a look!

| Image: paperhorseblweb2.jpg
817x600 117830 bytes 2005.02.22
20"x26", handmade papers.
Aquarelle translates roughly to painting with water, specifically the process of or result of using thin, transparent washes of watercolor. It is also often associated with the famous (and very wonderful to work with) brand of paper of the same name. I really was going for an odd, water-reminiscent washed look with this, but more bold and stylized, so I thought it was a fitting title
I've never done a project like this, but I was greatly inspired to play with it. I have a small series I am doing in different colors.

| Image: squirrelshieldsm.jpg
493x500 43171 bytes 2005.02.19
This custom piece is a small shield inspired wall hanging. I hand-wrapped the hoop with buckskin leather and then stretched and laced a small rawhide circle for the middle. The glyph is my squirrel glyph, and the entire thing is about nine inches in diameter.
I was itching to adorn this little shield with feathers and fringe, but the people who requested it have cats that they say would never leave it alone! So I shall have to make a few more to quell my urge to fuss with adornments.
I am happy to make custom shields (they make great gifts!), drop me an email if you are interested.

528x500 30094 bytes 2005.02.16
A stylized raptor glyph for my good friend Broketail (if you haven't seen his art, check it out, it rocks! www.broketail.com)
I took a lot of liberties with the anatomy to make it flow better. After all, he's dancing!
|
| Image: baldeagleweb.jpg
424x325 25757 bytes 2005.02.15
Pyrography and acrylic on tagua.
The image here is well over double the actual size of this piece. The colors (especially on the beak) are more muted and the white on the wing fades in better in the original.
Eagles are often seen as the supreme messenger, since they can fly higher than almost all other birds. During a storm, eagles will often lock their wings and fly above the clouds, riding out the weather high above what rages below. They are a powerful symbol for many cultures around the world.
I do custom tagua work, check out my website!

| Image: frogfeatherweb.jpg
617x900 72913 bytes 2005.02.08
Acrylic on a peacock feather. Approx. 5"x7".
This piece was a challenge because I have never drawn frogs before (much less painted them) and working on a peacock feather was... difficult! Even with a good coating of acrylic fixative, the strands were very delicate and did not hesitate to split. But anyways, here it is, a little tree frog climbing on a peacock feather.
Original and prints are for sale, email me for details!

| Image: Wingswithinweb.jpg
1033x700 83941 bytes 2005.02.07
14"x18", watercolor and india ink.
I am fascinated with the idea of transformation, it is a constant inspiration I explore with a lot of my art. I think that is part of why I find myself so drawn to northwest coast native american art styles - their bold stylization covers a heavy theme of transformation and connection. Horses can fly without wings, they use the wings within.

568x900 98269 bytes 2005.02.06
Acrylic on a turkey feather, approx. 3"x8".
A chestnut mustang charges through a shallow stream, heading off alone into a bright, moonlight night.
I've been working on this piece for awhile, one of a few feather paintings I want to bring to the 2005 Rocky Mountain Horse Expo. I really love painting on feathers, and though I am new to it, I know it is going to be a lifelong love affair with this media.
Prints available! Email me if you are interested.
