Mbala LOVES jackalopes!

Just a very quick sketch to tease my husband. I'm kind of a packrat and one of the things I have that drives him most crazy is a little furry jackalope I bought in the SW years ago. He wants me to throw it away, but it just keeps ending up various places in the house.
Like perched atop his computer desk.

Mideon Werewolf Badge

This is one of my leather badges, it has a 3-d carved texture to the fur and lettering. The moon is a carved shell inlay.

A gift for the extremely talented NeoGeen, of her awesome character, Mu - the three-eyed cheshire cat. Cheshire cats mean a lot to me, and this character design was too much fun not to draw.

Mr. Musk

Another piece for the MFF website ( www.furfest.org ) - a grumpy old musk ox man.
Musk ox are such neat animals. Some day I want to make a quivit yarn scarf. :)

Natasha's Vulture

Vulture medicine teaches us to trust in the universe to provide for us; that if we follow our true path we will be taken care of. Vulture people tend to be resourceful and fully developed in the skills that they possess. Mess seems to follow vulture, but in fact vulture follows mess. They are excellent at the ‘cleaning up’ of problem situations – whether they are emotional, physical, or spiritual. Whatever the mess, trust a vulture to have an efficient, effective solution to it.

Though it gets a bad reputation, the vulture doesn’t cause chaos, it cleans it up. It makes the best of any situation – even those that seem unpleasant or horrible to other people.

Back in the Old Days

The younger generation always has such new-fangled ideas!

A quick sketch of some yellow-billed hornbills. I don't think many birds make a better crotchety old man than a hornbill. ;)

This painting is on a 13" diameter drum, elk hide over a stained pine frame.

I was playing around with the horse silhoutte that I made for the 'Aquarelle' series that I did, and I decided to use it to make a few 'painted ponies' on drums.

Aquarelle translates roughly to painting with water, specifically the process of or result of using thin, transparent washes of watercolor. It is also often associated with the famous (and very wonderful to work with) brand of paper of the same name. I really was going for an odd, water-reminiscent washed look with this, but more bold and stylized, so I thought it was a fitting title

I've never done a project like this, but I was greatly inspired to play with it. I have a small series I am doing in different colors.
