The colors are really washed out, they are much more vibrant in reality.

This idea has been stuck in my head awhile, so I finally did it. This is one of what will be a tryptic of native Indian cats. I have never painted any sort of real clothing, so this was my first go at a sari. It was also my first time using colored india ink over watercolor; and somehow I found this an appropriate time to try that :)
The other two, a tigress and an asiatic lioness, will be forthcoming.

Carved Aurochs Pendant

A commissioned custom pendant of a bull - in this case an Aurochs (the extinct, giant ancestor of modern cattle). I wanted to do a tribute to the old style cave paintings and capture the ancient, wild power of this incredible creature.

Hand-carved tagua, approx 1 3/4" x 1 1/2"

Pyrography and acrylic on tagua, pictured well over twice the actual size.

Winter Badger Mug

A mug commissioned by Vulnavia of a pair of ear-tufted badgers in a wintery scene. The mug itself is quite large, about 5″ wide and 4″ tall. More like a soup bowl!

Detail shot of a custom painted mug for Vulnavia who is a wonderful commissioner to work with! -Two fantasy badgers cuddling together against the cold, wrapping around a big coffee cup (it is big enough to be a soup bowl!) - with a few little critters hidden along the sides.

The image here is well over double the actual size of this piece. The colors (especially on the beak) are more muted and the white on the wing fades in better in the original.

Eagles are often seen as the supreme messenger, since they can fly higher than almost all other birds. During a storm, eagles will often lock their wings and fly above the clouds, riding out the weather high above what rages below. They are a powerful symbol for many cultures around the world.

Bohemian Bearcat Brew

As a gift for our two year wedding anniversary, I decided to try my hand at brewing. I made my husband homemade root beer, and it actually worked! It was quite an adventure (I've never done anything remotely like that before) and I was so pleased it actually turned out well. Carbonated and not exploded!
I also made this label for him. The original itself is painted in acrylics and india ink. The text on the bottom of the label is a bit of a joke - it's my attempt at translating 'root beer' into Czech.
Rampant binturongs make me happy inside. :)

Berg Polar Bear Badge

A commissioned holiday badge for Berg the polar bear. I love, love, love drawing bears!

This is a mask I made out of a plaster taxidermy mache (it's very lightweight and strong), then painted, added a canvas and muslin headdress to, and feathered by hand. It is wearable and you can see out of the nose (nare) holes. It is big enough to cover the average person's head and shoulders, spilling down the back and chest a bit. The original is currently for sale, email me with serious inquiries only!

Mbala's Mug - Binturong

A birthday gift for my husband, Mbala, who is the best husband (and binturong!) ever! And he likes tea.

I painted this using special ceramics paints. They fire harden so they are rather durable. The actual mug is about 5" in diameter.

Black Snake Totem

Black ratsnake totem - being made into a bolo tie centerpiece. I am planning to start offering the tagua pendants as bolo ties as a regular option. :)

I was playing around with the horse silhoutte that I made for the 'Aquarelle' series that I did, and I decided to use it to make a few 'painted ponies' on drums.

Carved Wild Boar Pendant

I designed this pendant for myself, inspired by the old celtic and greek designs for wild boars. I feel strongly connected to boar, and I've been meaning to do this for awhile. And to try out my new 3/32" dremel bit. :)

Boar-Tiger Badge

This one was definitely a challenge to do - with all the primary colors together, it makes it kind of hard to look at, but that seems to fit the character well. He's a white-colored boar-tiger hybrid with jade eyes, red and blue bright markings, a copper mane, and golden jewelry.
Quite the mix!

I really wanted to make a play on the standard Jack card, and decided to integrate african symbolism into the more 'traditional' jack-royalty attire. I had a lot of fun with this design!
